I've come across a little bit of free time and spent some of it cleaning up the site. Finally caught up with the new millenium and got the page layout out of tables. I also spent some time deleting old spam posts from many years ago. This should make it easier to browse the board and pull up old memories. I also put everything for this site on github so if anyone has been dying to see a typo fixed or format adjusted, now's your chance. Or if you want to add/edit lyrics or tabs, just submit a pull request!

Moved site to new host. Please let me know if you come across any problems.

The Message Board is back! I recently obtained a new server package. So in celebration I redid the site a bit, but without spoiling that nostalgic late-1990's look and feel. This also means that I have much more space. The Downloads are back! Exclusive thanks goes to Ron Fitzgerald for getting the files to me that were lost.

2006-03-17 00:00:00

Wow. Been a while. The computer that I work on this website on had a Hard Drive failure back in December. But those of you who frequent the downloads section and message board already know that. But now that computer is back up and kicking with a 120G drive. One problem, however, is that I did lose a good deal of the mp3's and such that I had. I'll rummage around my personal computer and see what I've still got there. So hopefully some of you guys could send me some of that stuff again. I'll post up a comprehensive list here when I see what I have.

News on Travis. This was posted to the FS-Subrosa Mailing List by Tanya recently.
Travis has just finished recording an album. The artwork and printing is in the process. THe music still pours from him. He has enough material since the recording to do another. It all takes so much time and footwork. He has played solo here and there, but it is always last minute and very random. When i get wind i will post the time and date. T$

New tab for Kill the Birds, by Andy Cole. Thanks man!

2005-02-02 00:00:00

Looks like the Tribute CD is not going through. Not sure on the details though.

A couple of weeks ago my friend Seth and I visited our friend Nate down in Florida. We stopped by the cemetary in Clearwater to pay our respects.

2004-09-07 00:00:00

Tomorrow is the 8th of September; 9 years since the crash that put an end to For Squirrels. On an odd coincidence, my good friend, Nate, is moving down to Florida, and there is an open-mic night at this cafe near us on Wednesdays. My friend Seth and I, are going to play "Nathaniel's Song" as sort of a going-away gift. Because he's a FS fan ...and his name is "Nate" ...and he's moving to Florida. Also, someone sent me this poem that she wrote about For Squirrels. I rather liked it, so I thought I'd put it up here. It's called "Gone But Not Forgot", by Erin Schroeder:
September 8th marks the date on which many hearts still mend. It was a day when Heaven received some very special friends. South of Savanna was the location of this spot. Jack, Bill, & Tim are gone in body but will never be forgot.

With the albums "Baypath Road," "Plymouth," and "Example," Their creativity, effort, & personality, these were just samples. Going on to play music for more than just squirrels, In the scheme of life, these men were definitely pearls.

Clever songs including "Flagboy," "Under Smithville," & "Disenchanted," These will forever play & linger on in our heads. "I just want to hold the sun. I just want my day to come." Listening to "8:02 P.M.," these are the words that I hum.

But so far only half the story has been told. Jack & Travis also helped this band to become gold. These strong musicians created "Subrosa," a new band. Proving they would make their friends proud & continue to stand.

So during this ninth month of our current year, Let us join our thoughts as we hold those mentioned dear. And as they look down on us from up above, Continue to surround them with our undying love.

Not as near future as I would have liked, but most everything seems to be fixed up.

2003-09-26 00:00:00

Just to keep you updated, I'm currently working on the site, making sure that everything is up-to-date and working properly. I know there have been some broken links and whatnot. They should be fixed in the near future.

Got some cool interviews and misc shtuff from Scott Cohen! Click somewhere in this general area.

2003-02-21 00:00:00

Wow, exactly one month since the last update. Ok, I got another PC at home thanks to my sister! So I've been able to host most all of the files I've got! There's some pics (that I've been meaning to get up for a while) and mp3's. Take a look. It's not that organized yet.

2003-01-21 00:00:00

Ok, the sites changed hosts (again) and is back to ForSquirrels.net. The Message Board has moved here. Everything appears to be working. But if it isn't, please let me know.

2003-01-09 00:00:00

Lyrics for Kabaret added.

2002-12-11 00:00:00

Artichoke mp3's back up, thanks to CivicJournal for hosting them. They are here.

2002-12-09 00:00:00

I have to move the artichoke mp3's. So the link below does not work.

2002-12-05 00:00:00

Ok, finally, some tabs added for NBTDYH thanks to DB! And there are some artichoke downloads available here! Thanks Glen for the space! There will be more soon...

2002-11-27 00:00:01

FTP Party! Hey all, I will be setting up my comp this weekend as an ftp server. So if you want some stuff that I don't have on the web yet, then nows your chance. Check out this post for more details.

2002-11-27 00:00:00

Okay, it's been a little while since the last real post. But I've Been doing alot of work on the site. Over the last year and a half, the site has become a little unwieldy and I know that some sections needed a little bit of maintenance. So I finally got around to revamping all of the pages and creating a perl script to automate almost all of my grunt work for me.

Anyway, onto the good stuff! There are now tabs to Kill the Birds thanx to 802! And there will very shortly be many many many new pics and mp3's! thanx to dumb and Jessica! It'll take a little while before they are all up, because I need some more space to host them. Some will be by the great Veruca.org! But it will take some time before they are all up. If anyone has a little bit of web or ftp space to host some of them (and are willing), then please contact me.

2002-11-11 00:00:00

Lyrics for Go On Up.

2002-09-22 00:00:00

Website was down for a few days while changing hosts. I'd like to thank my killer host at Alxhost for helping me out.
The tribute cd is also moving ahead! There is an article at CMJ located here.

2002-08-24 00:00:01

Poop. I accidentlly erased several of the newer posts. And I may have also erased anyone's profile who signed up after the 8th. Sorry about this everyone. Feel free to repost any messages that you want.

2002-08-24 00:00:00

First verse figured out to Nathaniel's Song by Nathaniel!

2002-08-07 00:00:00

Corrections to Nathaniel's Song and lyrics to 3 sent in by SecretGoldfish.

2002-06-06 00:00:00

The downloads section is here! I will be adding more to it shortly. If you have anything that I don't have listed there, then please contact me first, because I just may not have it up yet.

2002-06-01 00:00:01

I finally got a half-assed upload section going. It will improve in the future. But for now, if you want to send me any files, then please use this to do so. They can be no larger than 10megs. Or, upload them via ftp. Set your ftp client to: Then open up the "incoming" folder and upload to that. More info can be found in the "readme.txt" file.

2002-06-01 00:00:00

Great pics sent in from Scott Jason Cohen for everyone to enjoy.

2002-05-11 00:00:00

I added the new submissions section. So please use that from now on whenever sending me any lyrics or tabs or whatnot. It just gets the information better organized for me. Thanks.

2002-04-22 00:00:01

That was funny. I received an email from my service provider saying that my new hosting service was all ready. So, I figured that everything went off without a hitch. So, as soon as I wrote that last update and got ready to post it...alas, i couldn't connect. so, apparently, they went off with a hitch. I'm having to re-publish the site, but still have some server side problems. So the new message board is non-opperational. But when it is, everyone should sign it lots because it's been a large pain-in-my-ass. Not that that's anyone's fault but my own. it's a fun project, but a pain none-the-less.

Ok, I'm going to post those mp3's in the future. and, as i said, i'll post a vote to do one a week or soemthing like that because of my limited bandwidth and disk space. if you have a good idea for this (like one random one everyday or something like that. I don't konw, go crazy) then email it to me at thescienceteam@hotmail.com. right.

2002-04-22 00:00:00

Well, I got some new server stuff added, and I was afraid that the site was going to be down for a day or so (which I forgot to mention may happen) while the changes were made. But I'm glad that the transition was a smooth one and that I didn't have to re-publish the entire site.

Next order of business; my josh@forsquirrels.net email has been down and out for a few days and who knows how much longer. It's just fucked up or something. So, if you emailed me within the last week or so, then I didn't get it. Please use my other adress, namely thescienceteam@hotmail.com. Sorry if there was anykind of inconvenience.

The new board; The new board has been voted in by an ovewhelming margin (like 10:2 or something like that). I lied about one thing, however. It won't be exactly like the old one. I was originally doing the board in ASP, but then decided it would be neater to program it in Perl. Because there is so much more cool shit to be done. Anyway, I can't get it to thread the way I want it to (You know, with the replies indented from the original thread). So far it's based on the Dream Catchers message board, but a bit nicer, and all of the messages appear at once without replies. So, you can't reply (yet), just post.

Oh, and also; I have lots of nice new .mp3's and .rm files of rare Subrosa stuff, courtesy of those really nice people that sent them to me. I'd like to make them available for download to all of the other fans. However, even when I get around to it, I have very limited bandwidth here, so I'll probably have to do a vote or something and post one new song each week. And then, depending on how much bandwidth I'm using (or when the downloading dies down) I'll post more at once. I'll keep you posted.

2002-04-12 00:00:00

New lyrics submitted for Flagboy and 3.

2002-02-20 00:00:00

Hey, if you're on the mailing list, you've already seen this, but I thought it was neat:
hi guys!
i just wanted to share a little fact thats abstractedly relevant to for squirrels. at "8:02pm" tonight (2-20-02) there will be what is called a palindromic reuinion. there has only ever been one before this dates. a palindrome is when characters letters or numbers read the same way backwards as they do forward. an example for this is the word racecar.
forward its r-a-c-e-c-a-r
backwards its r-a-c-e-c-a-r
anyway, at "8:02pm" tonight the date and time will be 20:02 02 20 2002.

2002-02-17 00:00:00

Hello and welcome to forsquirrels.net! Better connection and no pop-ups. Easier to remember too. I did some scouring around and also someone has sent some in, so there are lots of new pictures, a few that I know you've never seen before, thanks to Ryan Fridley. Corrections to Flagboy lyrics. Someone was able to read a couple of the songs off the discography section, so we know the songs that For Squirrels did on the CMJ Jan 96 comp and the CMJ Dec 95 comp. There will be an articles section soon (or maybe I'll call it something different by then) for all of the articles on FS that I've collected and that people have sent in to me. And I want to say thanks for everything that everyone has sent in over the past year; the pictures, lyrics, tabs, (corrections), and everything else! It's what's made this site possible.

2002-02-11 00:00:00

Heck, even I forgot this sites birthday. Too much schoolwork. I've got big news coming up shortly! What could it be???? Also, a friend of mine who just moved to florida stopped by John Vigliatura's house (Jack Viglatura's Father) to tell him that he is a big fan of his son's music and that there are still lots of others out there who are too. The visit went well, so that's cool. And he stopped by Jack and Bill's graves' to pay his respects. Kudos man!

2002-01-24 00:00:00

Another version of Van Gogh added thanks to Joe! Definitely better than what I had. Check em out. I changed my email adress. Just to kind of note that. It's under the contact section. Also, this site's birthday is coming up! February 3rd will mark it's 1 year anniversary. It's come a long way if anyone remembers it from it's early days.

2002-01-08 00:00:00

I ditched the noframes thing. It was too much work. Hope no one minds too much.

2001-12-14 00:00:00

Can you find the changes? (you know, like Waldo) I'm working on tabs for Kabaret and Go On Up, but there are just these little annoying parts in each that make it tough.

2001-12-03 00:00:00

I had this photograph of FS laying around for a while that I finally scanned and added to the pics page. It's Bill W. Jack V. and on the far left is Travis T.. Also finally scanned and added this Sony Compilation disc to the discography that has Superstar on it. Last and least, there is now tablature for Plymouth.

2001-11-24 00:00:00

I added the lyrics from "Never Bet The Devil Your Head," I guess, just in case anyone wanted them because they have a burnt copy or something. And I added it to the tab section, not that anything is tabbed from it yet. There is, however, tablature for Flagboy.

2001-11-21 00:00:00

Happy Thanksgiving! Well, things have been...weird...to say the least. But I think it's all in my head. Changed the look on a couple pages. And the long awaited Orangeworker tabs are in! er, part of em at least.

2001-10-25 00:00:00

As you can see directly above, there is a FS tribute cd in the works. Which is pretty cool. Lyrics for R.O. as well as corrections to other lyrics. Thanks Dave!

2001-10-03 00:00:00

Finished the 'Discography' page with the exception of one compilation that I have yet to scan and then add to it (what will it be!!! stay tuned). More pics too, from The Unofficial For Squirrels Homepage.

2001-10-02 00:00:00

Got the chords to 'Nathaniel's Song.' Wasn't so bad. Just needed to get off my ass.

2001-09-25 00:00:00

I changed some more stuff around (again) and I've got the first chords to 'The Immortal Dog and Pony Show.' As well as recovered the lyrics to 'Long Live the King' which apparently had been missing.

2001-09-16 00:00:00

It's been a while. But I've been cramped for time. There are probably a few new things you've noticed (and some things that you won't). I haven't any new material to add to the site just yet, but I finally got it all cleaned up. Hopefully I'll have time to do some tabs in the near future. I made a "noframes" version of the site just incase there are any people who have REALLY old browsers. Or if people just prefer noframes.

2001-07-22 00:00:00

The first thing you probably noticed is...the site got moved. Tripod changed around their stuff so I was able to get this addy. They second thing you might notice is, that they upgraded their banner system. I used to have this worked out, but now they changed it so that a banner will pop up everytime you surf to another page on this site. To avoid this, simply minimize or put the ad window in the background.

2001-07-14 00:00:00

I think I've figured out some basic chords to Van Gogh. I know that some of them are wrong. But, maybe it's enough to get you started.

2001-07-13 00:00:00

I've changed some stuff around. Nothing major. Just cleaned up. I'm working on some tabs, but it's getting difficult to find the time. The feedback has been moved to a different page, and I fixed the link on the side for the new msg board. By the way, please sign it :)

2001-05-30 00:00:00

I will be out of town for about 2 weeks. So the site won't be attended to during that time. I set up the new message board for when the old one goes out of business. I believe tomorrow. So the old one is still there for a day and this one is here for now. I also added some feedback material. So feel free to let me know what you think of the site, any suggestions for improvement would be greatly appreciated. And don't worry, I'll never know who sent it. haha. Later. -Josh

2001-05-29 00:00:00

Sitepowerup, the company I use for the message board, is shutting down on June 1, 2001. I will try and get a new message board up shortly. Also, I improved the pics page so that it should load faster for those of us with slow computers.

2001-05-24 00:00:00

I finally fixed all the tab around...that's about it :)

2001-05-21 00:00:00

Corrections for Van Gogh lyrics. Also, I decided to change the name of the site from "Kill the Birds" to "Disenchanted". So if you don't like it...then TOO BAD!! haha :)

2001-05-10 00:00:00

A friend of mine started up a mailing list to share For Squirrels and Subrosa stories and to gain information and whatever else. Use the link at the left for more information about joining up.

2001-05-07 00:00:00

I got up a discography. It's really nothing yet, only the main albums. I will be adding more in the near future. It's finals week so....

2001-04-24 00:00:00

I fixed up a lot of stuff. Also there are some more pics I scrounged up as well as some links to check out that people sent in. Thanks. I'm going to make a Subrosa page in the near future. So if anyone has anything (tabs, lyrics, pics, links to other Subrosa sites) please, please, please, send them in.

2001-04-11 00:00:00

I added the track listings for "Baypath Road." No lyrics or tabs yet. But there should be soon?

2001-04-11 00:00:00

Ok, I've got some lyrics for Baypath Road. I made sure to do Van Gogh because there was a few people who wanted those. And I love that song anyway.

2001-04-09 00:00:00

I think that I have all of the links working now. I changed the tabs over to TXT format so that they will come up the same on all computers. I just have a lot of changing around to do to them now so they look right :) I also got a couple more pics for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy!

2001-04-03 00:00:00

Updates!! I have changed somethings around as you may have noticed. Some of the links may not be working. If they don't work (for example; once you are in the tab pages, then back out to the main tab page to go to a different song.) then back out and come in again or...you'll figure it out. I'll get around to fixing it all soon.

2001-02-27 00:00:00

Ok, Ok. I finished RayAna's corrections to the lyrics. Check em out.

2001-02-25 00:00:00

I am working on tabs for Mighty K.C.. But until they are completed RayAna sent in these tabs to wet your appetite. Also RayAna sent tons of corrections to the lyrics. Thanks. Although I do not have enough time today to fix all of them. But I will soon. Solo and corrections to the chorus of Superstar by Andrew. Thank you.

2001-02-22 00:00:00

Correction for 8:02 PM lyrics by KeAloha Oyer.

2001-02-19 00:00:00

Lyrics for Immortal Dog and Pony Show and Mighty K.C..

2001-02-17 00:00:00

I got a links page put in. Only two For Squirrels sites that are even operational though. I did out the lyrics for Superstar. They are probably wrong. I also put up a bio page that I got off of another site.

2001-02-15 00:00:00

I finally got a pics page put together and also an explanation to understanding my tabs. Thanks to Pat for the pics. I think I got the guitar tab part figured out for Long Live the King which is played during the verse. Also I did extensive tabbing for Under Smithville. If you don't like it tabbed this way (with the lyrics and tabs put together) then just post a message. I will get it. If I get enough people to speak out against it then I will create a separate page for the lyrics and tabs rolled into one.

2001-02-11 00:00:00

Lyrics for Stark Pretty, 8:02 PM, and Eskimosandune as well as basic tab for Superstar. Full tab for Under Smithville coming soon!

2001-02-06 00:00:00

I figured out small pieces to Long Live the King and Stark Pretty. Hopefully it's enough to get you going for now until I have time to figure out the rest. I also added the lyrics page. So far only have lyrics to Orangeworker, Under Smithville, Long Live the King and Disenchanted. If I got any lyrics wrong then just tell me. Either e-mail or message board.

2001-01-03 00:00:00

So far I only have partial tabs for Disenchanted and 8:02 PM. They are sketchy for now but I will get around to completing them. I'd greatly appreciate if you sent in any tabs, lyrics, or ideas of your own for the site. Or else it will take me a long ass time to complete all of the tabs on my own.
